Fitted Bed Sheets Online in Pakistan

A fitted sheet grips your mattress with elastic instead of being tucked underneath, so the bed stays made through the night. Three measurements decide whether it fits: the width and length of your mattress top, and how thick the mattress is. Get those right and the sheet works. Start with the third measurement, not the first two

Most people order by bed name. Single, double, king. That is enough for a flat chadar, because the extra cloth forgives a lot. A fitted sheet forgives nothing, because the elastic has to end up underneath the gaddha and there is only so much cloth to get there. So before anything else, measure how thick your mattress is. Hold a tape against the side, from the top surface down to where it sits on the frame. Write that number down. In most Lahore homes it lands between 6 and 12 inches, and it is higher than people expect once a topper or a waterproof cover is on, because those count too.

Reading the numbers on a listing

Two things confuse buyers here, and both are easy once someone explains them. The dimensions describe your mattress, not the cloth. A king flat sheet is roughly 94 by 97 inches because it includes the tuck. A king fitted sheet is commonly listed near 72 by 78, which is the mattress top on its own. Seeing the smaller number, plenty of people assume they have been sent a double by mistake. They have not. A plus sign means the pocket. When a listing reads 72 by 78 plus 10 inches, the 10 is how far the sheet travels down the side before the elastic turns it under. That figure is the one your mattress thickness has to fit inside. Match it to the number you wrote down, and give yourself an inch or two spare. Too shallow and a corner lets go at night, nearly always the foot end. Too deep and the sheet sits loose and slides. Both are fit problems, not quality problems, which is why they keep happening even with good cloth.

The elastic, which almost nobody mentions

Two sheets can carry the same measurements and behave completely differently, and the reason is usually the elastic.

• Corners only: A short band at each corner. Cheaper to sew, fine on a thin mattress, first thing to fail on a thick one.
• All the way round: Elastic sewn along the entire hem, so the grip is even on every side. This is what holds up over months of washing.

Elastic also has one enemy, and it is heat. Hot water and a hot dryer take the stretch out faster than anything else. If your fitted sheets go slack after a few months, that is usually the washing rather than the sewing.

Treat these as what the market usually cuts, not as a fixed standard. Beds built by a local carpenter vary more than factory ones, which is a good reason to trust your tape over the label. Cloth, and what the names actually mean

• Cotton is the year round answer for most homes. It breathes, it softens with washing, and it handles the number of washes a bed sheet gets.
• Percale confuses people because it sounds like a kind of cotton. It is not. It is a weave. Every thread crosses one over and one under, producing a tight, flat cloth with a matte look and a cool, crisp feel. It creases more than other weaves, and that is the structure rather than a defect.
• Sateen and satin use a different weave where threads run over several before dipping under one. More surface thread means a smoother face and a slight shine, and it feels warmer against skin. Better suited to December than to June.
• Microfiber is synthetic, and some shops list it as micro fabric, which reads like a grade of cotton to anyone not looking closely. It resists creasing and costs less, but it traps heat, which is worth weighing before a Lahore summer.
• Fleece is winter only. A fleece fitted sheet in king size is warm enough to sleep on directly, usually under a quilt cover rather than a top sheet.

One sheet or a set?

Shops split on this and it makes price comparison misleading. Some list the fitted sheet by itself. Others list a 3 piece with two pillow covers at a price that looks higher until you notice what is in it. Check the piece count first, then compare. Either way, a fitted sheet does not include a flat sheet. If you sleep under one, buy it separately, or run a duvet cover over the quilt instead.

Price, and what changes it

The market here runs from about Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000. Four things move it: the cloth, whether you are buying one piece or three, how deep the pocket is, and how the elastic is sewn. A deeper pocket takes more cloth, so a sheet cut for a thick spring mattress genuinely costs more than one cut for a thin foam one. Our prices are on the individual product pages. Washing, with the elastic in mind

1. Cold or warm water only. Heat is what tires the elastic.
2. Mild detergent, and keep bleach off anything coloured or printed.
3. Wash it with a light load. A fitted sheet wraps around whatever else is in the drum and comes out knotted.
4. Dry in shade, not in direct sun.
5. Fold while a little damp if you want it neat. Once it dries stiff, a fitted sheet is much harder to fold.

Kansas State University Extension notes that the wrong water temperature causes dye loss, shrinkage and dye transfer between items in a load. University of Hawaii extension guidance adds that cotton itself cleans well, which is why habits rather than cloth usually decide how long bedding lasts.

The beds where fitted makes the most difference

• Children's beds: A child pulls a tucked sheet loose within an hour. This is the bed where fitted earns its keep most clearly.
• Top bunks: Tucking a sheet at arm's length above your head is a job nobody wants twice a week.
• Thick and foam mattresses: Where there is rarely enough cloth left to tuck properly anyway.
• Over a mattress protector: Protector first, fitted sheet on top, and remember the protector adds to your depth measurement.
• Guest rooms: The bed still looks made a week later.
