What comes in a set
Most sellers here will not tell you what is in the box. Here is ours, by type. Silk sets are two matching panels. Embossed velvet and plain velvet sets are also two panels. Velvet laser cut and velvet monogram sets are two panels plus two tie belts, and these carry stainless steel eyelet rings sewn into the top. Eyelets slide onto a round rod and need no hooks. Velvet and chiffon sets are four panels plus two belts. Two are velvet, two are chiffon. This is the double parda arrangement, with a sheer layer for daytime and a heavy layer for night. All premium sets take a 50 percent advance, because each one is stitched to your size. You pay the balance on delivery. The curtain designs we make
- Velvet curtains are the heaviest cloth we carry. Velvet hangs straight, holds its shape and stops a good deal of light. It also holds dust, so it wants a vacuum every week or two. Laser cut designs have a pattern cut through a contrast layer. Monogram designs carry a repeated woven motif.
- Silk curtains are lighter and come as plain panels for windows and doors. Silk softens daylight rather than blocking it, which suits a drawing room where you want the room bright but not exposed. These are also our most affordable sets.
- Embossed curtains carry a raised pattern pressed into velvet. Because the pattern sits in the cloth, it does not wear off the way a surface print can.
- Printed curtains give the widest choice of colour and pattern. One honest trade off: a print facing direct afternoon sun will lose colour faster than a woven or embossed pattern will.
- Plain curtains suit rooms that already carry pattern in the bedding or the sofa. Plain cloth also hides dust better than a pale print does.
- Fancy curtain designs hold our heavier decorative work for drawing rooms and formal spaces.
Curtain design for bedroom: heat first, then looks
In Lahore, June is the hottest month and average highs routinely pass 40°C. The city record is 48.3°C, set on 30 May 1944, with 48°C recorded again on 9 June 2007. Summer here also brings dust storms. Those figures come from the Lahore District climate page published by the Government of Punjab. So a bedroom parda has work to do. The US Department of Energy reports that medium coloured draperies with a light backing cut heat gain by 33 percent when closed during the day. The same source notes that drawn draperies reduce heat loss from a warm room by up to 10 percent in cold weather, which matters in a Lahore January. How you hang the panel changes the result. That guidance says to hang draperies close to the window, let them fall to the sill or the floor, and overlap the two panels in the centre. Gaps at the top and the sides are where heat gets in. Light matters for sleep too. A 2022 study in PNAS found that adults sleeping under moderate room light showed a higher night time heart rate and higher insulin resistance the next morning than those sleeping in a dim room. If someone in your house works nights, a dark room is worth paying for. For bedrooms, heavy velvet in a mid to dark shade blocks the most light of anything we stock. Our velvet bedding sets use the same family of cloth if you want the room to read as one piece.Drawing room and TV lounge: the double parda
These two rooms want different things, even though people search for both as one. A formal drawing room is seen by guests and used less often. It carries heavy cloth well, so velvet and embossed panels suit it. Hang the rod near the ceiling and the room reads taller. A TV lounge or baithak is used every day, and afternoon glare on the screen is the real problem there. Our four piece velvet and chiffon sets answer both. Chiffon stays closed through the day and gives privacy while keeping the room bright. Velvet closes in the evening or against direct sun. A single panel cannot give you light and privacy at the same time, which is why the four piece set exists. For a cleaner look on a small window or a kitchen, our roller blinds work alone or behind a curtain. Rooms look more considered when the pieces are chosen together, so it is worth checking our cushion covers and sofa covers in the same colour before you decide. How to measure, in inches
Because we stitch to your size, your measurements decide the fit. Take them before you order.- Width: Measure the rod, not the glass. Order total panel width of one and a half to two times the rod length. Eyelet headings sit at the lower end of that range. A panel the same width as the rod will hang flat and look thin when closed.
- Drop: Measure from the top of the rod down to the floor. Take off half an inch so the panel clears the floor. For a sill length curtain, measure to the sill and add four to six inches below it.
- Doors: Measure the same way, then check that the panel clears the handle when it is drawn back.
